Buffy walked home from patrolling to an empty house. Dawn was staying at a friend's tonight and Willow was staying at Xander's.
She walked up the porch stairs and placed her hand on the door handle. It smooth and cool in her hand. Slowly, she turned it and pushed the door open. She walked in, taking her coat off. She turned, closing the door behind her and hung her coat up.
"Luv." Rang a deep, sexxy voice in a distinct English accent.
She whirled to see him standing in the living room. He was wearing nothing but a pair of black jeans. Even his feet were bare. His hair was wet, and water dripped off it and ran down his broad shoulders, and then dribbled down his muscular chest and arms.
"Spike." She whispered. Her mouth was going dry and her legs were a bit shaky. *Does he have any idea what he does to me?*
He smiled broadly at her as if reading her thoughts.
*Of course he does.*
He ran his hand through his wet hair. "I hope you don't mind me using your shower. Life on the road gets a bit dirty."
And suddenly she was inches from him, looking up into his eyes. "Spike." She whispered again as he bent down to press his lips against hers.
His kiss burnt like fire as his lips bruised hers. She wrapped her arms around him, pulling him closer. He chuckled softly as he moved his lip up her jawbone to her ear, which he began to nibble gently.
"Spike..." She moaned lightly.
To this he laughed out right. Drawing her back slightly, so he could look at her, he asked. "Is that all you can say, Luv?"
She narrowed her eyes at him, glaring. But he was unimpressed.
"How about: 'Don't you ever disappear like that again!' and 'Make love to me now!'?" She quipped.
He laughed again and pulled her back into his arms, They stood kissing, locked in a deep embrace for several minutes before he complied with her request by gathering her in his arms and carrying her up the stairs to her room. Depositing her on her bed. He stood and removed his jeans. When he paused allowing her a full view his magnificent body she pulled his eagerly back to her.
He smiled at her eagerness and began removing her clothes until she was as naked as he.
In the darkness his hands caressed her, his lips covered her body and she heard herself moan as she arched under his touch. "Now, Spike... Now."
He moved to comply....
Buffy's eyes popped open. She was drencht in sweat, the sheets were knotted between her legs. Shakily she sat up and grabbed her housecoat. She glanced at the clock on her nightstand. Five o'clock. She sighed and stood wrapping her housecoat around her heading to take a cold shower.
This was the fifth night in row she had awoken from a Spike dream. And they were getting progressively worse. *Or better..* She glared at herself in the mirror. *What? You can't deny that it's a good dream.* She sighed and gave up arguing with herself over a seemingly mote point. Whether the dreams were getting worse or better they were... progressing. Tonight she and the dream version of Spike had almost... In her mind she began to relive the now familiar dream.
Angrily she turned on the shower. Stepping into the shower she wondered who she was angry at. *What does it matter?* she thought. *Can't I just be angry?* With that she pushed all thoughts from her sleep deprived mind.
Buffy sat at the kitchen table, an unused bowl and spoon sat, waiting. She was merely staring at the cereal box in front of her.
Willow walked in rubbing the sleep, out of her eyes. "Morning."
"Morning." Buffy replied, her attention not wavering from the box.
Willow started toasting a bagel and went to get the cream cheese.
"Will?" Buffy asked her stare having turned into a glare about ten minutes ago, when she decided the world was set against her.
Willow looked over at Buffy, "Are you okay, Buffy?"
Buffy didn't say anything for a moment.
"Why do we have five shipping boxes of Weetabix?"
Willow looked at Buffy oddly, and then seeing the box in front of her friend realized what she was talking about. "I don't know. I was meaning to ask you that."
"They're Spike's." Dawn said, announcing her presence.
Buffy's head jerked up to look up her sister, finally relieving the Weetabix box of being blamed for everything. "Spike's?"
Dawn nodded. "Yeah, he ordered them special from England. He likes to... uhmm.."
"Put them in his breakfast?" Willow finished for her with a smile.
"Yeah, we know. Doesn't explain why they're here though."
"He had them delivered here. They arrived a few days ago. A whole box of them. I went to tell him they'd come yesterday but he wasn't home. Have you guys seem him?"
Willow shook her head. "Nope, he's seems to have disappeared... Unless you've seen him, Buffy?"
"Huh? Oh! No, I haven't seen him."
"Weird." Willow frowned, and then seeing Dawn's worried look she changed her tone. "I'm sure he's fine. Probably just busy hatching a plan to get that chip out of his undead head." They all laughed. "Come on, Dawn. It's almost time for school."
Two weeks later.
*Dawn's staying at a friend's and Willow's over to Xander and Anya's. God, this sounds eerily familiar.* Buffy stopped in front of her door and pinched herself. She winced, "Ow.." *Good. I'm awake.* She sighed. *Too bad really..* She rolled her eyes back did not rebuke herself. She had given up trying to deny the intense feelings she had for him.
She heard someone take a long drag on a cigarette to her left. She spotted the red glow of it as he stepped out of the shadows of the porch to lean on it's railing.
"This isn't some new fad, is it? Standing on your doorstep in the dark and pinching yourself?"
"Spike?"
He was wearing the same thing he was when she first saw him. Black jeans, black t-shirt, red silk shirt over the t-shirt and his trademark black duster. The sight sent a shiver of delight through her.
"Who were expecting, Slayer? The buggy-man?" He cocked his head to one side and looked straight at her. His eyes were hard and cold, yet somehow sad. They froze Buffy were she stood.
"No. I...." Words deserted her. It was real this time. She simply knew it. This was the real deal and something gave her the feeling it might be her last chance before he disappeared for good.
"You what?" He inquired, his voice hard and cold like his gaze, but she could tell he was teasing her and she didn't appricate it.
"I have several boxes of Weetabix in the kitchen that, I believe, are yours." She said and then went inside.
On the porch Spike shook his head and smiled sadly. He put out his smoke and flinging it into the lawn followed the Slayer inside. "I'll take those off your hands then and --"
The door slammed behind him and locked. Suddenly he felt Buffy push him back against the closed door. "Damn you, Spike. I could care less about the stupid cereal."
He had one brief second to stare surprised at her before she pressed her lips against his. She tore the duster from him, letting it slide to floor. Then one arm slide around his neck while the other cupped his face. He tasted strongly of smoke and faintly of blood, but she didn't care. It was Spike, and this was no dream, and she wasn't about to waste another minute.
Spike was in shock. He had just spent the last month trying to forget her. He had come back to prove his point to himself, and that point was that it was pointless. The exchange on the porch mere moments before had, he thought, proved it and had resigned himself to give her up. And now this.
Her tongue pried it's way through his lips and began to part his teeth.
*Well,* he thought ironically to himself. *I guess I can handle being wrong just this once.*
When she finally came up for air, he held her at arms length and studied her. His eyes had grown softer and warmer. "So, Luv, what happened to you?"
She shot him a fake glare.
"Not that I'm complaining or anything." He added quickly, smiling fondly at her.
She laughed. "You'd better not be." Buffy leaned in to kiss him again.
"What can I say besides, Absence makes the heart grow fonder, love?" she whispered and then lead a grinning Spike up the stairs.
